Experience
My philosophy is that there are no incapable students, only incapable teachers. Provided a basic willingness, every student achieves. My teaching method is highly practical, so that the student will be able to apply what he learns. My specialty is the ability to work with the student at the level of the student, hence a highly individualized approach, rather than cookie cutter. Additionally my forte is the ability to break down a subject to its basics, hence giving a student a solid foundation, which will then enable him to "fly solo", so to speak, rather than continuously depend on a tutor. I have trained foreign language executives for a worldwide non-profit for years. In this environment, I specialized in English as a second language. Part of that training included helping students clear up derivations of English words, and my 8 years of Latin and 5 years of Ancient Greek came handy. My grandfather was a professor of Linguistics in Milan and although I have not studied Linguistics in college, through knowledge handed down to me through my mother, I have a passion for Linguistics and the origin of languages. My Latin and Ancient Greek studies have helped. I can provide the basics and clarify basic concepts with students. I fluently speak English, Italian (my native language), Spanish and French and am very familiar with the grammar of these languages. I play the piano and my teacher was a blind nun in Italy. She taught me for 13 years, from 5 years old until I graduated high school. I have lived or been dealing with the blind from a very young age. I have also tutored blind children.
